Informal City - Design As Political Engagement

Urbanism & The Informal City research cluster explores the concept of the ‘informal’ as a parallel modality that shapes the urban condition.

Client: Urbanism and the Informal Research Cluster, AA

With particular emphasis on spatiality, the cluster is researching ways in which ‘informal’ processes contribute to a radical re-thinking of the space of the city and its institutions, and organised the Design as Political Engagement symposium at the Architectural Association in February 2012.
